Ultimate Trombone Training: Next Steps 2022-2023

A little while ago we reported that we were extremely thankful to be recipients of the Royal Philharmonic Society Enterprise Fund in association with Harriet’s Trust, more details on which can be found here.

Since then we’ve been working hard to use our grant to bring our students and followers brand new content for our forthcoming courses. Previously we had been limited to using our homes for recording and presenting, but thanks to the RPS/Harriet’s Trust we have been able to elevate our offering to the next level.

What to expect:

In January we will be running the first of next set of courses; our new and improved Back to Basics 2.0 course. This course will be a 1-day focus on the core skills used in trombone playing and how we can all benefit from developing them, regardless of whether you’re an experienced professional or a keen hobbyist. We will be going live for sign-ups in the coming weeks so keep an eye out on our socials.

Following this we will be running a course focusing in on auditions; the way we can approach preparation and how to bring your A game to them.

Furthermore, we are going to be releasing more online-only content that can be purchased and viewed at anytime for those people that have schedules that don’t allow them to attend our courses live online.

How did we use our funding to achieve these goals?

-Firstly we have used our generous funding to hire both Cadogan and Menuhin Halls to film our new and exclusive content. These spaces gave us the opportunity to record the trombone for you in superb acoustics, bringing our videos to the next level. This pre-recorded content allows us to make our courses more flexible and engaging for all of our students, so there is less reliance on live schedules and Zoom.

-Secondly we have invested in professional grade video and audio editing suites to enable us to achieve even higher quality content than before.

-We have been able to use the grant to keep our running costs of the website and courses low, so that the prices remain low and as accessible as possible.

It’s taken us a little while to edit all of this new content as there’s so much of it - in total we did 3 full days worth of recording, presenting and performing which left us with hours and hours of footage to trim down. However we’re extremely excited to be able to bring this to all of our existing and (hopefully!) new students!
