Course Introduction - How does it work?

BACK TO BASICS - How does it work?

If you chat to any professional brass player they will tell you that much of their practice is spent working on fundamentals – the very building blocks of instrumental technique.

But why are they so essential and how do we actually go about practicing them?

Well, over the course of two days we will hold six, live sessions to look at some of the most important areas of practise. There will be live, in-depth discussion, downloadable video, the opportunity to practise along with us as well as assistance in developing your own routine to find the exercises which help you the most.

The course will combine our own exercises with material from some well-know method books. We will supply all the necessary exercises and give a brief review of the rest of the book during the literature review:

Jean-Baptiste Arban - Method for Cornet (Trombone)

André Lafosse – Méthode Complète (Vol. I and II)

Ian Bousfield – Unlocking the Trombone Code

Daniel Lassalle – TrombOlympic

Peter Gane – Circuit Training

Peter Gane and Eric Crees – How Trombonists Do It

And for Bass trombonists:

Ben Van-Dijk - Ben's Basics

Eliezer Aharoni - New Method for the Modern Bass Trombone

And many of the books listed above.
